Combine a lacy shell and wave pattern with seaside colors to create a truly unique summer afghan.

Approximately 48 x 60 inches
Materials
- Plymouth Fantasy Naturale worsted weight 100 percent cotton yarn (140 yds/100g per ball): 11 balls variegated #9936
- Size 10 (6mm) needles or size needed to obtain gauge
- Crochet hook (for fringe)
Gauge
14 sts and 24 rows = 4 inches/ 10cm in garter st
To save time, take time to check gauge.
Pattern Note
Double-Wrapped Sts: When knitting or slipping these sts on following row, drop 2nd wrap.
Pattern Stitch
Shell and Wave Pat (multiple of 12 sts + 1)
Row 1: Knit across, wrapping yarn twice around needle for each st.
Row 2: Sl 4 sts purlwise, insert LH needle into front of these 4 sts from left to right and k4tog, *yo, [k1, yo] 5 times, sl 7 sts purlwise, insert LH needle into front of these 7 sts from left to right and k7tog, rep from *, ending last rep sl 4, insert LH needle into front of these 4 sts from left to right and k4tog.
Row 3: Knit across (there should be one yo after each st except last st).
Rows 4, 5 and 6: Knit.
Rep Rows 1-6 for pat.
Afghan
Cast on 169 sts. Knit 6 rows, then beg pat. Work even in pat until afghan measures approximately 59 1/2 inches, ending with Row 6. K 3 rows. Bind off all sts.
Fringe
For each end, cut 96 (15-inch) strands. Beg at corner, *fold 3 strands in half, pull through st and knot close to afghan edge. Rep from * every 1 1/2 inches across.
