• Patons Astra fine weight yarn (133 yds/1.75 oz per ball): 1 ball each white #02751 (A) and cranberry #02788 (B)
• Size 5 (3.75 mm) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge
• 2 stitch holders
• Tapestry needle
• Elastic thread (for waist of pants)
• 2-inch length (1/4-inch-wide) hook-and-loop tape (optional)

Gauge
24 sts and 32 rows = 4 inches/10 cm in St st
To save time, take time to check gauge.

Special Abbreviation
M1 (Make 1): Inc 1 st by inserting LH needle from front to back under thread between st just worked and next st, knit into back of this lp.

Right Leg
**With B, cast on 30 sts.
Row 1 (RS): With B, knit.
Row 2 (WS): With A, purl.
Row 3: With A, k1, ssk, k10, k2tog, ssk, k10, k2tog, k1. (26 sts)
Row 4: With B, purl.
Row 5: With B, knit.
Row 6: With A, purl.
Row 7: With A, k1, ssk, k6, k2tog, ssk, k6, k2tog, k1. (22 sts)
Row 8: With A, purl.
Row 9: With A, knit
Row 10: With B, purl.
Row 11: With B, k1, ssk, k6, k2tog, ssk, k6, k2tog, k1. (18 sts)

Assembly
Sew back seam. Sew inner seams of legs and crotch. With needle, weave elastic through row of (k1, p1) ribbing. Tie both ends of elastic tog at back seam.

With B, cast on 24 sts.

Row 3: With A, k6, M1, k12, M1, k6. (26 sts)
Row 4: With B, purl.
