- Crochet hook size G/6/4mm or size needed for gauge

Rnds 1-2 of motif = 2 inches
Special Stitches
Double crochet cluster (dc cl): Holding back last lp of each dc on hook, work 3 dc in place indicated, yo, draw through all 4 lps on hook.
Front post double crochet (fpdc): Yo, insert hook from front to back to front again around indicated st, complete as dc.
Motif
Rnd 1 (RS): With color A, ch 4, join with sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc in ring, [ch 3, 3 dc in ring] 3 times, ch 3, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3, fasten off. (4 3-dc groups, 4 ch-3 sps)
Rnd 2: With WS facing, join color B with sl st in any ch-3 sp, ch 1, 3 sc in same sp, *ch 1, sk next dc, dc cl (see Special Stitches) in next dc, ch 1, sk next dc**, 3 sc in next ch-3 sp, rep from * around, ending last rep at **, join with sl st in first sc, fasten off.
Rnd 3: With RS facing, join color A with sl st in top of any dc cl, ch 1, 3 sc in same dc cl, *sc in next ch-1 sp, sc in each of next 3 sc, sc in next ch-1 sp**, 3 sc in top of next dc cl, rep from * around, ending last rep at **, join with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in same sc as joining, *3 sc in next sc**, sc in each of next 7 sc, rep from * around, ending last rep at **, sc in each of last 6 sc, join in first sc, fasten off.
Rnd 5: With WS facing, join color B in first sc to left of any center corner sc, ch 1, sc in same sc as joining and in each of next 8 sc, *ch 1, dc cl in next sc, ch 1**, sc in each of next 9 sc, rep from * around, ending last rep at **, join with sl st in first sc, fasten off.
Rnd 6: With RS facing, join color A with sl st top of any dc cl, ch 1, 3 sc in same dc cl, sc in next *ch-1 sp, [fpdc (see Special Stitches) around corresponding sc on row 4 below, skipping sc on row 5 behind it, sc in next sc] 4 times, fpdc around first of 3 corner sc on row 4 below, sc in next ch-1 sp**, 3 sc in top of next dc cl, rep from * around, ending last rep at **, join with sl st in beg sc, fasten off.
